2 pkgs. dry onion soup mix (pareve)
4 medium onions, diced
3 tbsp. margarine
dried French bread slices
1/4 lb. Swiss cheese coarsely grated

  1. Prepare soup according to package directions.
  2. Sauté onions in margarine until golden brown. Add to soup and simmer. Strain, if desired.
  3. Pour soup into individual ovenproof casseroles. Top each with a slice of bread, and sprinkle with cheese.
  4. Broil until cheese bubbles, about 5 minutes.
